A toast to BB
On this day in 1905 Denys Watkins-Pitchford (BB) was born, a toast and a chapter from one of his books is called for tonight.

A g&t and a chapter of "Confessions" will be my contribution.

It's the 'Old Copper Mine' that does it for me, I have booked an hour to myself to read it again (for the umpteenth time) with a glass of good quality red. In memory of a real gentleman, thank you for your memories Sir

Have read Little Grey Men, Down the Bright Stream, Brendon Chase and The Forest of Bolan Light Railway over the last few months so unless anybody can suggest another fantastic tale by the great man I'll revert to one of his fishing books for this evening

Chance is always powerful. Let your hook be always cast; in the pool where you least expect it, there will be a fish

Just finished Confessions. You may rest assured that I will raise a glass to his memory tonight.
The coiled line travels from the reel, it brings up at last, the hook goes home, and then begins the test of skill. "BB"

Indeed a trip to the "old Copper Mine seems fitting.
Not a fish was visible that first time I visited Beechmere; an utter
stillness brooded over the place and I felt the strange and sinister atmosphere which, so the story goes,
has been the cause of several suicides.’
