I had a bit of a moment and won a job lot ,I was only after the reel because it looked nice.
well a package arrived today and I opened it and I haven't stopped shaking ,I have had to refer to my earliest allcocks guide I have ,a 1937-38 ,if anyone has an earler guide it would be a big help.
some of the items I have found and some im stuck on ,and if im wrong on some of them im sure you will put me right
I would be very grateful if you could also give me some idea of the value of these as I have no idea what so ever as I have never seen these before.

I can't help with the lures, though I like the feathered minnow - nothing new in angling, eh? - but from the photo of the Snapham, it looks as though it may be missing it's end-float screw - the little grub-screw in the centre boss that the spool spins on when the reel is held flat; if so, I wouldn't spin it too much until a replacement is found.
Probably best to start a new thread with "Modarcom Snapham" in the title, to make sure the likes of Moley and Nobby see it!

Some real beauties there. I'm not much help either I'm afraid, i remember some of the lures from my Grandad's tackle box but I'm afraid he's not around to help anymore and my memory is too cloudy to be of any help. Sorry.
God never did make a more calm, quiet, innocent recreation than angling.

Chance is always powerful. Let your hook be always cast; in the pool where you least expect it, there will be a fish

The Modarcom Snapham is indeed a Perfection Flick 'em from J W Youngs re-badged for Modern Arms, ....Modarcom was their telegram title in Redditch, though their main offices were in London at the Elephant and Castle. The reel dates to between 1935 and 1939 I believe.
I'm no lure expert but I do spot a few I know;
An Allcocks Aquatic Spider possibly.
The little green wooden surface poppers with the two pronged hook were used for steelheads in North America and my Grandfather brought me one back from Canada in around 1963...they must have been imported into the UK though as I have several more now in other colours too.
The tenth one seems to be an Allcocks Feathero Minnow...a feather-filled transparent plastic Devon, the feathers intended to mimic the appearance of a fish (?)

No.1, Is a Holroyd-Smith Spinner patented in 1914, yours is the plain version, they did one with a red bead eye.
No.2, Is a "Wagtail" lure missing a bit off its tail
No.3, Is a "Halcyon" Spinner
No.10 Is a Allcock "Feathero" minnow patented by Hardie Readman in 1926/27 the Feathero spoons was later c1930.
Also the fly box, Farlows traded under that name & address configuration from 1885-1894

Does number 3 have a single hook in amongst those tassels and are there any letters on the blades?Danny Boy wrote:hi gentlemen,
