Record Breaker
Hi all. I have been lucky enough to have been offered an allcocks record breaker. The rod is in good condition and the cane is a lovely golden colour. It has a very slight set but not much to concern me. The bag is original but a bit tatty. The rings are a little corroded and discoloured and this is my biggest concern as I think they will need replacing at some point. The guy selling is a family friend and has owned the rod since new (late 50's) I believe. I'm looking for a little guidance regarding a fair offer please??

Re: Record Breaker
If the rod needs refurbishment, will you be doing it yourself?
For me if you are planning to do it yourself I would say £60-70 is fair
If you are going to have to pay to have it refurbished, this will cost anything from £100-£250
Good conditioned record breakers will fetch £120-£180

Re: Record Breaker
Nice rod the 'Record Breaker'
I also think £60-70 would be a fair price in it's present condition.
Consider replacing the rings yourself, they're readily available and it's an easy, satisfying task.
All the help and advice you need can be found in past posts on here, failing that, just ask...

Re: Record Breaker
Thanks for the advice. I'm happy to change the rings myself if need be so that's not a problem. Cheers for the guidance all
