is a Youngs Rapidex the same as an Allcocks Flickem Perfection because i have just aquired a Rapidex and apart from the makers marks it seams identical to my old Flickem. Can anyone throw any light on this?

Yes, the Flick 'em is a re-badged Youngs reel.

The Flick-em/Rapidex was also rebadged by Milwards as the Floatcraft and by Edgar Sealy as the Floatqueen.
If you have no grease with you, and your rings are full of ice, do not cut out the ice with a pen-knife but get your man to put the rings one by one in his mouth, and so to thaw the ice.

Re: Reely confused!!!
Yes the pre-War Perfection Flick Em name was re-used again for the Allcock version of the Rapidex, post-War.
Two other versions exist and the only real difference is that the Milward version, the Floatcraft, always used an early casting with a sculpted flange to the edge of the reel back, that was discontinued on all other versions by 1950. About 1962 Milwards dropped this but re-used the Floatcraft name for a re-badged Trudex reel. One other difference is that both the Milwards reels were always painted brown.
