Re: The Edgar Sealey & Sons - Range of Cane Rods
Hello Mark, you may want to add a split cane two piece 8ft Edgar Sealey SPINET 7LB spinning rod to your list I bought one last week for £33.00 including postage so a real deal. Looks very much like my two piece 8ft OCTOSPIN Heavy spinning rod which has a 16 inch handle stainless Seymo 616HC guides throughout whipped in red and black silks, the heavy has a powerfull action and suitable for lines of say 8 to 12 lb, overall a nice rod for carp fishing with 8lb line on rivers lakes and ponds.
In comparison the Spinet has a 23 inch handle alloy butt and rubber but cap, reinforced ferrules agate tip and but rings with Seymo 616HC type intermediate rings whipped in green silk, the Spinet has a slightly lighter springy action. As it says on the rod 7lb line rating so I figure it to be a medium spinning rod, I have not used it yet but being similar to my split cane Octospin heavy would suggest it will be a delight to use and a formidable Perch Pike or carp fishing rod.

I own the Octofly 3 section 9ft rod.
My question is as follows.
Is there a place where one can see the line classification for this fly rod? (and maybe other rods)

Hi, I am watching a "Glastrike" three piece, split cane 10 foot, the same configuration as a Chapman 500.

I have a couple of Octofloat's and I notice that they differ slightly in their ring spacing's and handle length's. I assume that during the years of manufacture specs may have changed a little, true ? Rgds James

Re: The Edgar Sealey & Sons - Range of Cane Rods
anyone heard of an Edgar Sealey octospin Live Bait Pike Rod. I am restoring one along with an early octospin heavy an octofloat de-luxe and another ESS label rod which I am struggling to ID . Here are a few pics of the pike rod. All will be done in green red jasper. The unidentified rod has two capital As, is 3 piece 9 ‘. Looking closely the second A could be a P or R that has moved.
