Welcome to the forum Hyrsch.

Looking on the German Ebay, I see there is a selection available although prices do vary of course. But finding a starter rod must always be seen for what it is, the first step. If you use the 'search' function on the forum you will find countless comments about rod choice and they are all valid, but they are all personal.

I suggest you buy something that is easy to find, and not too expensive. Learning to play fish on cane means having sympathy for the rod and not expecting it to be as forgiving as modern materials. The Chapman rods suggested are great starters and pretty tough too. For carp up to 30lb and more, I have used Hardy Palakona LRH1, but even so, it has a few sets in it due to hectic fights.

Enjoy the journey :Hat:

I thank all of you for the warm welcome again and also for the first tips directing me to a first cane rod.

Did I get @Duebel right? Do you know a collector near Hildesheim or did you suggest travelling to Bamberg?

Best regards to all of you
and Merry Christmas
