I can't help but feel that any grease, given a few hot days sitting in the sunshine, will get everywhere inside a reel but I haven't actually tried it out.
The magic grease you refer to does thin still further when warmed so it might 'travel about a bit'.

I guess a bit of cleaning then some graphite powder is called for depending on use & temperature then.

I do have a little tub of graphite powder....haven't used it in 20 years.
