The sealey range...
Good evening folks
Am I right in assuming that the split cane course rods consists of
Light ledger
Medium ledger
Heavy ledger
Octofloat
Octofloat deluxe
Float caster
Float caster deluxe
Rover
Is there any that I'm missing? Slowly slowly building my collection and making space in the man shed.. Quick query I know the difference between the octofloat and deluxe was quality of fittings and intermediates- would the octofloat originally have come with agate tip and butt rings as well?
Thanks AB

Re: The sealey range...
I once had the idea of collecting all the Sealey rods. I nearly have the full set of cane floatcasters. Just need the whole cane / whole cane / split cane floatcaster. I have the 11 and the 12 fters.
Not sure there was a light ledger...

The 'Peter Butler Specimen Hunters' (Mk 4 barbel 11ft/ Mk5 Carp 10ft 6in/Mk 6 roach 11ft 6in) are listed in the '1967 Sealey Fishing Manual' as 'natural hollow glass rods with stand-off butt rings and plum whippings).
In the same publication, the 'Peter Butler Mk 2 Carp Rod' is listed as a 10ft 6in rod ... "An outstanding rod in close-whipped split cane, with fast sensitive tip and stiff butt and middle. Three piece short butt construction, fitted with gold carbide butt and end rings. Whippings - plum.' (I am privileged to own one.)

Re: The sealey range...
Yes, there were Light, Medium and Heavy ledgers and in 1953, the same year as Allcocks, a part fibreglass rod, the Comet. I'm guessing this is the rod illustrated due to the handle:
There was also The Octopus, a light fly rod
The Match rod mentioned here is cane, but I've an idea later ones may have been reed as was the Supreme.

I've never seen the light ledger. I guess they must be quite rare.

The General, 11 foot with whole cane butt and middle, built cane top. Around the mid 50s, and a rod I am still trying to find. Missed the one on Ebay a while back, curses.
