Chapman 500 ring sizes update

Post by Jeremy Croxall »

Here's some pics of the ring sizes I settled on for the Chapman 500 I recently converted to deluxe spec.

The butt ring measures 22nm o/s dia and 12.5mm i/s dia. It seems an appropriate size for the rod and I believe the same dimensions as fitted originally to the deluxe version. The inters are new old stock and sized according to Chapmand website.

The rod handles beautifully, light and well balanced. What an absolute delight these rods are!

Just need to wait for the varnish to harden sufficiently before I take the high gloss of it. :Hat: Image

To me that looks so much the better for the build Jeremy , I find standard Chapmans quite a boring rod to look at , but you have transformed it into a far better looking rod for the collection.

Well done , may we see the finished product when you have “knocked the shine back “

Really nice job, Jeremy.
I must say that you've done well to have the Chapman label/decal/transfer in such good nick.
None of my "Gold Label" Chapman rods have one as good as yours.

Lovely looking rod, Jeremy. Will you move it on or is this a keeper.

I know, I know...but when you see it and waggle it you will understand my reasoning :Thumb:

Might sell the other one though.... :Scared:

Here you go David.

It's quite difficult to photograph but I think this is a fair representation of the degree of lustre following my efforts to take the "flash" off the newly applied varnish. :Hat:

Looks really nice JC. A nice ‘sleeper rod’ for a carp when next crucian fishing perhaps?
