Eyes bigger than her belly

Post by Harry H »

Unfortunately this one was found dead in the margin after an inspection to try and find a cause of her demise I could not see any external damage so looked in its mouth to see what I thought was a stick. The result of a tug with a pair of forceps.

Good afternoon Harry H, :hat:

at last....! Some actual proof for those who doubt the stories of Pike taking aquatic birds !
Well done!

Apparently quite a common occurrence on this water as it only contains large carp and pike so its either of these or water fowl for dinner. They also have big heads compared to others to cope with the bigger prey,I have also seen this in eels.

How big would you estimate that pike to be?

Is it me or does that pike have a really big head
Chance is always powerful. Let your hook be always cast; in the pool where you least expect it, there will be a fish
