burgate manor

[Chubman]

anyone fished burgate manor farm?nr fordingbridge,thought id give it a go but im not sure if its weeded over at this time of the year or is it best fished in the winter, many thanks chubman.

I used to fish it a lot until a couple of years ago when CAC lost the fishing rights. It can be very weeded in summer but we used to clear gaps in the margins and float fish or touch ledger for chub to 5lb, the weir could also be good for chub, perch and pike. Barbel seem to visit the area but tend not to be resident, migrating up from Sandy Balls.
Some good carp can often be spotted cruising around in the carrier above the lower weir and I have had a few roach and dace there. Otters had the big barbel (17lb+) and some large carp above the upper weir unfortunately.
