had many a wonderful time at these lakes especially in the summertime watching the carp milling around in the shallows or just sat there in the sun basking in its warmth while they looked at me thinking you got no chance matey
I go fishing not to find myself...but to lose myself

Yes. our club estate lake's not bad, 7 acres with a couple of islands designed by old Capability himself - the old house is now a 'posh' hotel.

They look really lovely.
I yearn for a beautiful estate lake to fish. I used to fish a small one at Adlestrop but it has tragically succumbed to otters, silting and was hit hard by flooding.
In its better days.

Stevenstone Estate lake, Devon, see under other carp waters.

Not a fish was visible that first time I visited Beechmere; an utter
stillness brooded over the place and I felt the strange and sinister atmosphere which, so the story goes,
has been the cause of several suicides.’

Yes they are both wonderful places. Were you part of the Bailey / Harper syndicate who used to fish Sennowe? I know it was fairly exclusive & I've heard that lot of the older fish have died since then. Blickling has also had problems with arguements between carp anglers and other anglers. Just a shame as I would have loved to fish them now.
To enjoy our sport as it should be enjoyed, our surroundings must be beautiful, for your true angler enjoys nature as much as he enjoys fishing. "BB"

not many people got to fish sennowe ,it was a for a select few which I was very lucky to be a part of ,had some cracking wildies and a great head of carp ,last I herd it had an otter problem and fishing is no longer allowed.
shame it was a great place to escape ,it was a different world when you stood on the lakeside.
