I spent the weekend on the river Trent and on Sunday I fished the tidal river at North Clifton. Whilst I was there I took the opportunity to have a look for the J W Martin plaque at Dunham Dubbs.
If you want to pay a visit it's on a sycamore on the riverside path on the apex of the left hand bend about half a mile above Dunham bridge. The tree can be spotted easily as it has a large angling club sign on it. Vertically challenged people will struggle though as the plaque is now over six feet up as you can see by the reflection of my arms in the picture (I'm over 6ft tall). You'd better hurry as the tree is doing its best to eat it.
Here's a view of the river from the sycamore:
Here is my best fish of the day, a rather pale Trent barbel of 9lb 3oz:

Re: The Trent Otter
What's the reason for the plaque being put there Sean? I mean was it to commemorate something?
God never did make a more calm, quiet, innocent recreation than angling.

Re: The Trent Otter
I'm not sure why the plaque was put there. It's obviously relatively modern, probably done in the last 20 to 30 years. I tried googling it, but found no information.
