Aspindale The Swiftdale

Post by Pentonhook »

I would appreciate any info, particulary from any member's who own
one of these rod's, I have searched google but there is a distinct lack
of infomation on the web.

The rod in question is 10' 6" in length, bears the Aspindale fisherman label,
the Swiftdale (what looks to be hand written) and full open bridge rings,
butt ring is clear agate and the tip is red agate. All whipping in garnet.
I am sure this is not original, as the rod appears to be a light float rod
and high bell ring's seem more suited.

I think there was one of these on eBay very recently.....with an 'angler' transfer it's a late rod, Peter Aspindale and his wife only retiring a few years ago, though I believe they only restored rods, rather than made them, in the latter years.

There's a mention of two old friends with one here:

Thanks for the reply Nobby.

I did read that on the pp forum, but unfortunatley there is no reference to style of ring's or
what the rod was sold as or designed for. There must be a forum member who has or has
had one these rod's who can enlighten me.

The info I have found out so far is, I believe that they only came in either 11' or 12' version's,
although the 10' 6" one I have does not seem to be short in the tip and look's right.

But Hermes and Champ are both members of this forum too..perhaps a pm might elicit the information you seek?
