Sowerbutts "avocet" ???????.
From what i've read on this forum only B james were allowed (copyright) to use the name "avocet" on their rods. So has someone been at it again with the indian ink or is this feller genuine?.

I know, silly money. The gentleman who bought it always tends to pay over the odds for rods. Must have a lot of money.

Note the floor of a certain kitchen. That's the same floor a Youngs avocet an Efgeeco avocet and the famous Southwell rod of this very forum were photographed on. Need i say any more?.

Just had another look at the rod on ebay. It's whipped in burgundy the other ones whipped in green jasper.

LJM the one that sold Yesterday was a seriously good rod I spoke with the owner and had additional pictures. I have waggled one of these before and only the very early early BJ Avocets and early Ogden Smith Arun were better. The best avocets always have whole cane butt and split cane middle and top sections. The later ones were split cane throughout and know where near as good in my opinion the real shame is I suspect this rod will never see the bank again.
