Left or right handed?

Post by Snape »

I have two Speedia reels. One wide drum and one narrow drum.
The odd thing is that with the ratchet on they are quieter on the back wind and so I thought they are right hand wind but the check lever is on the front of the spool when wound left handed.
Any thoughts or suggestions for how to correct this?

I thought the check lever always went at the front, you can flick it on or off with your second finger then.

It does go at the front so they aren't right handed reels. So I am wondering why the ratchet is back to front.
I will try changing the pawl around.

You can do it that way and you are less likely to scratch the paintwork, but pushing the spring away from the back edge of the pawl can be done with a screwdriver or suchlike giving you enough room to slip the pawl off and turn it before re-inserting it.
